01 / ABOUT THE PLACE

About this place

Some diners who tried the omurice alongside curry udon have singled out the omurice as especially good. At Ippuku, you can go for a Western-style classic or make noodles the focus of your meal. The omurice comes with salad and miso soup for 700 yen; the demi-glace omurice costs 750 yen. Curry udon, served with 2 rice balls, is 850 yen, making it easy to turn a noodle dish into a complete meal. Curry soba is also on the menu, so you can choose between udon and soba with the same curry flavour.

For something more substantial, look to the set meals and rice bowls. Ippuku’s recommended set meals include tonkatsu and yaki udon, each served with rice, miso soup and a small side dish for 750 yen. The hamburg steak set features a 180 g demi-glace hamburg steak topped with a fried egg, with rice and miso soup, for 1,380 yen. The Hamburg Combo pairs a 100 g demi-glace hamburg steak with 2 fried prawn, and also comes with rice and miso soup. It is a good choice if you want both. One diner described the hamburg steak as soft and fluffy; another also enjoyed the combination.

Rice bowls include oyakodon and katsudon, served with miso soup. The set option comes with either kake udon or zaru soba. A chicken katsu-toji rice-bowl set, for example, costs 1,200 yen. You can keep it to a bowl or add noodles. Shaved ice is on the menu for after your meal or a break: Uji and lemon flavours cost 450 yen, Uji milk is 550 yen, and Uji milk kintoki is 650 yen. The choices range from simple flavours to more richly topped sweets. Coffee and iced coffee are also available to accompany a meal.

Ippuku in Kohama is presented as a good option for lunch or dining solo. When you want to choose according to your mood, the broad menu spans Western-style dishes, rice bowls, noodles and sweets.
